Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has questioned the angle used for the VAR review on Fernando Llorente’s crucial goal that knocked his side out of the Champions League.
The Spaniard scored the decisive goal 17 minutes from time to send Tottenham into the last four of the competition for the first time in their history on an extraordinary night at the Etihad.
“I support VAR,” Guardiola told Sky Sports. “It is just to see the goal maybe from Llorente’s handball.
“From one angle, it is handball. From another, it is not.
“I am for fair football. When it is offside, it is offside.
“I think in the future, even in the present it will be fair.”
On Sterling’s disallowed goal deep into added time, Guardiola conceded it was offside.
“Yeah, it is tough,” he said.
“It would be better if we don’t concede. We are close to going through. It is cruel but we have to accept it.”
